Remembering the Victims and Heroes
|
9-11-2001
by Roger W Hancock
Victims and heroes, remember that day,
nine, one, one, two-thousand-one.
We must honor Heroes today,
who serve for us . . . everyday.

Grave
Towers
by Roger W Hancock
Towers crumbled,
inhabitants crushed.
Mound of rubble,
entombs the dead.
Rescuers rescue,
victims become.
Massive grave,
the aftermath.
Scrap metal marks,
as cross upon,
monumental grave.

Patriot Day
by Roger W Hancock
Half-staff the flag is flown,
moment of silence in mourning.
Remembrance of the terrist attack,
those fallen on nine-one-one, 2001.
Remember heroes that work among us,
firemen, policemen, medic ones.

Tall and Free
by Roger W Hancock
Towers standing tall and free,
within, movers, shakers of affluence.
Symbols of a vibrant economy,
to the world with freedom's influence.
From the evil of a misguided culture,
spreading hate of zealot destruction.
Killing in a land thought secure,
purpose lost in their aggression.
Towers now gone, a pile of rubble,
three thousand killed by assassins' hate.
In all of America freedom excels,
to it's demise, no one can orchestrate.
We will rebuild, paid from our affluence,
decisions to make affecting the world.
Symbols again with stronger defense,
freedom reigns in our pride renewed.
America has always stood tall, free and proud,
adversity reveals our weakness to solve.
For freedom's security we'll shout aloud,
resistance only strengthens... our resolve.

We
Will Remember
by Roger W Hancock
Forget not the pain,
rain of the dead, dying.
Buildings crumbling,
security broken.
Attacks on U.S. soil,
financed by purchased oil.
Culture of hate towards,
cultured affluent compassion.
Sleepy eyes awake,
still clouded by liberal wake.
War continues against terror,
anti-American sentiment.
Learning liberty’s price,
responsible freedom’s way.
As the Revolutionary War,
the Alamo, Pearl Harbor,
we will remember 9-11.
Day of somber, reflection,
everyday heroes,
heroes unsung,
we will remember,
each September.
