PoetPatriot on Holiday - Father's Day

Father's Day is celebrated on third Sunday in June.

From God's love, the first firm hand that baby knows is that of a Father's love.

These are the various resources @ PoetPatriot.com for your celebration of Father's Day.

Poetry     -     Sayings     -     History     -     Miscellaneous

Father, God's Gift To Us.
A father fathers as God fathers us. Discipline with love; a father's recipe.

Fathering

Fathering is far different from that of mothering. Fathering does not come as natural as that of mothering. Mothers are closer feeding and loving their babies as the father is often away earning a living to support the family. Fathering takes thought and effort. Without the effort a father fails falling to the same inadequacies of their father. You will become your father without the discipline to be a father. Setting apart time for each of your children, boy or girl. Even the man of God will succumb to the failures when failing to apply the examples and lessons God has provided. Discipline with a firm hand but always attach your love. Be firm in your discipline but hug and express your love often.

Father's Day Poetry

Essence of Dad
by Roger W Hancock

Dad dear dad, so long ago gone,
your voice, your face an echo.
Remembering your wisdom,
I now impart to your grandsons.
The reprimands thought unjust,
I now see as righteousness.
Over protectiveness, I had thought;
simply love to keep from harm.
The fatherhood I now live,
reminiscent of your firm hand.
Loving protection of my sons,
passed to me from your firm love.
Experiences of fatherhood,
your essence lives through mine.
Love to keep my sons safe,
guiding law of my firm hands.
Wisdom imparted once to me,
I, now pass to your grandsons.

Firm Father
by Roger W Hancock

I affirm my Father is firm,
though rarely saw his anger.
When he spoke, firm as oak,
I'd listen to Dad's candor.

Dad's Silence
by Roger W Hancock

My Father did not often speak,
never said he loved me.
Though I knew by his actions,
the love he did not speak.
As Dad failed to express,
the duty fell on me;
first to break the silence,
fell upon his son.
I first said it was uncomfortable,
then told Dad I loved him.
Dad's reply silent still,
expressed in his gleaming eyes.

Father's Day

Father, grandfather, forefather;
fatherhood and parenting.
Giving gifts to those still near,
remembering those of yesteryear.

A Grandfather's Joy

Far fewer thoughts are written of Father
than those expressed of Mother.
So I'll include a rhyme I wrote,
since I am now a Grandpa!

Zander and Papa
by Roger W Hancock

Zander sits upon the lap,
as his grandpa takes a nap.
Later race the horse’s track,
upon his Papa’s back.

'Father Figure'

Celebrate your Father or the 'Father figure' in your life. Everyone needs a 'father figure' at sometime during their life. Someone to look up to, from which you draw your values. Where the father is never known an uncle or a 'hero' may become the source to satisfy the need for a father. As we do not choose our biological father's we also will usually not necessarily choose our father figure. Sometimes our 'hero' is not the best role model from which draw our values. Those who have good Fathers or good 'father figures' should consider themselves fortunate. Celebrate the good you learned from your Father this Father's Day.

Remember Dad on Father's Day - Reconcile this day!

Father's Day celebrates Fathers. A day to honor your father. If estranged from your Father, it is a day to reconcile; take the first step, forgive him, and tell him. Do your part even if He does not do his. Failing to never have tried will haunt after he is gone. Reconcile with your Father Now! Tomorrow may be too late!
