A Reminder
In
one
of the
piles of
rubble,
channel iron extended up
with a
cross
member
to form
the shape
of an old
Rugged
Cross.
Grave
Towers
by Roger W Hancock
Towers crumbled,
Inhabitants crushed.
Mound of rubble,
Entombs the dead.
Rescuers rescue,
Victims become.
Massive grave,
The aftermath.
Scrap metal marks,
As cross upon,
Monumental grave.

Remembering
It was a dreary rainy day as I thought back to September 11,
2001.
I thought of the people jumping from the upper floors.
I then sat down at the computer to write "We Will Remember". |

We Will
Remember
by Roger W Hancock
Forget not the
pain,
rain of the dead, dying.
Buildings crumbling,
security broken.
Attacks on U.S. soil,
financed by purchased oil.
Culture of hate towards,
cultured affluent compassion.
Sleepy eyes awake,
still clouded by liberal wake.
War continues against terror,
anti-American sentiment.
Learning liberty’s price,
responsible freedom’s way.
As the Revolutionary War,
the Alamo, Pearl Harbor,
we will remember 9-11.
Day of somber, reflection,
everyday heroes,
heroes unsung,
we will remember,
each September.

Commemorate . . . 9 - 1 1 ( 2003 )
September 11th has
become the day to commemorate the fallen and the heroes of the
attacks on New York's Twin Towers and the Pentagon in
Washington, DC. Since that day in 2001 we have learned much.
Our liberty and our heroes have been and are being defined.
We have learned that security in a free society is not
secure. Liberty is maintained by restricting some freedom. If
all freedom is to be allowed then we cannot expect to have
secure liberty. Liberty is maintained by responsible freedom.
Hero material is in everyone and manifests itself by action
when the need arises. Our military, police and fire forces are
heroes just for making themselves available knowing the dangers
they may face. Fortunately only some will have their fortitude
tested. Many civilians who survived, and some who did not,
showed us bravery by acting upon the needs at hand.
September 11, 2001 is a day that will be remembered for the
loss of that day and to honor the heroes of our society. Those
who have sacrificed and those who still live proving our
American resolve. We give our gratitude to all of our American
heroes.

Not
Free
by Roger W Hancock
Nothing
is ever free,
though
to you it be.
Somewhere,
somehow,
someone
paid.
