In Mississippi One Vote Does Count
I believe my 'one vote' lists; National, by State, and Other; to be the most comprehensive
listing on the internet.
Actually it is not just 1 vote but is 1 vote
over or shy of a majority, or 'super-majority'.
Any one voter of the victory tally had the power to sway the
victory to a tie or the opposition. One vote is victory among many when the many have the

I have included where one vote each over several precincts could have made a difference.

|| 1 vote by the
U.S. Senate ratified the Treaty of New Echota. More than 15,000
Cherokees protested the illegal treaty. Illegal because it was
made with supporters that thought it futile to oppose. No
Cherokee official was part of the aggreement.
|| 1 vote failed
to approve the ratification by Mississippi of an amendment to
the U.S. Constitution to give women the right to vote.
1 vote carried the passage of a bill to establish the
Mississippi Vicksburg Park Memorial Commission. It was
passed by a vote of 68-46. The opposition came from former
Confederate veterans who considered the Vicksburg National
Military Park a "Yankee Park." It was a former Confederate
General, Stephen D. Lee who fought for the measure, but had
greater opposition to an appropriation measure to provide the
funds. The measure for funds was finally approved, by one
