Simpson Grant is the 18th President of the United
States serving from 1869 until 1877.

Colfax was known as the "Christian Statesman" and the "Smiler."
Colfax was born in New York City,
New York on March 23, 1823.
He died in Mankato, Blue Earth County,
Minnesota on January 13,

Simpson Grant begins his second term as President of the
United States.

Henry
Wilson was Grant's second Vice President.
He has also served as Governor of, and U.S. Senator from,
Massachusetts.
Wilson was born in Farmington, Strafford County,
New Hampshire
on February 16, 1812.
He died in office of a stroke at the U.S. Capitol
Building, Washington, D.C on November 22, 1875.
The President Pro Tempore, Thomas W. Ferry, of the Senate was
next in line to succeed to the presidency. |

Grant completed his memoirs though he had throat cancer and with
the help of Mark Twain they were published.
Although he considered his intentions all noble, upon leaving
